El astro del fútbol mundial, Diego Armando Maradona, está a pocos días de debutar como DT del club mexicano Dorados de Sinaloa. En ese ínterin, se difundieron fotos inéditas del ‘Pelusa’ cuando se consagró campeón del mundo con la selección argentina sub 20.

Las imágenes fueron difundidas por el fotógrafo japonés Masahide Tomikoshi a través de su cuenta de Twitter y corresponden al Mundial Juvenil de Japón 1979, en el que los albicelestes lograron su primer título mundial de fútbol en categoría de menores.

Estas fotos nunca fueron reveladas. Sin embargo, este proceso finalmente se efectuó el pasado martes 11 de septiembre y sirvió para hallar un gran registro fotográfico, en el que se aprecia a un joven Diego Armando Maradona y sus compañeros en los partidos de la mencionada copa del mundo y en las celebraciones posteriores.

Entre otras figuras que se pueden reconocer en las imágenes están el entonces delantero Ramón Díaz, el DT de dicha selección, César Luis Menotti, y el padre del ‘Pelusa’, llamado también Diego Maradona.

Maradona y su primera consagración mundial
Cabe recordar que en aquel Mundial Sub 20, Argentina se ubicó en el Grupo B junto a la extinta Yugoslavia, Polonia e Indonesia. Maradona anotó tres goles en esa etapa y los albicelestes quedaron punteros absolutos con puntaje perfecto.

Luego, en cuartos de final golearon 5-0 a Argelia, en semifinales derrotaron 2-0 a Uruguay y en la final se impuso 3-1 a la también desaparecida Unión Soviética.

Además de consagrarse campeón, Maradona recibió el Balón de Oro al ser catalogado como el mejor jugador del torneo. Asimismo, con seis anotaciones, quedó detrás de Ramón Díaz (ocho tantos) en la tabla de goleo.
